Participant Registration Experience
This article explains what participants see when they access your program. Understanding the participant experience helps you design a clear and effective registration flow.
How Participants Access the Program
Participants typically access your program through:
- An email invitation, which opens a standalone registration form
- Your Event Website, where they press Register on the page itself
- The Eventene mobile app
The registration flow is the same in all three. For more on the access modes, see Ways Participants Access Your Event and Choose How Attendees Register.
Starting Registration on the Event Website
An attendee registering from the Event Website begins with one field: their email address. No account is needed first.
- If Eventene doesn't already have that address and your event is open to new attendees, they give a first and last name and continue. If the event's Email Verification setting is Required before registration, they first verify the address with a 6-digit code
- If Eventene does already have it — because you invited or imported them, or they registered earlier — they verify it with a 6-digit code before anything about their registration is shown
- If your event is Invite Only and the address isn't on your guest list, they're told no invitation could be found for it
See Add Registration to Your Event Website and Attendee Access and Email Verification.
What Participants See
Participants only see what is relevant to them.
- Activities assigned to their group
- Questions they need to answer
- Any required steps for registration
Your setup determines exactly what appears.
The Registration Flow
Participants move through a guided process:
- Select Attendance – choose activities if applicable
- Answer Questions – provide required information
- Review and Complete – confirm and finish registration
If you configured pre-registration questions, participants answer those first, and their answers can determine which registration path they get. See Pre-Registration Questions and Registration Routing.
If payments are required, an additional step will appear. Checkout takes over the browser tab and then returns the participant to where they started — the Event Website, with registration reopened, or their registration form. See Handling Payments During Registration for what participants experience.
Incomplete Registration
If a participant does not complete all required steps:
- Their registration remains incomplete
- They may be prompted to return and finish
You can send reminders to help participants complete registration.
After Completion
Once registration is complete, participants:
- See a confirmation screen
- May receive a confirmation email
- Can return later to view or update their responses (if allowed)
On the Event Website, the Register button becomes View Registration — that is how participants get back in. They may be asked to verify their email address again on a new device or browser.
How Your Setup Affects the Experience
Participant experience is directly shaped by your configuration:
- Activities determine what participants see
- Attendance settings determine what they choose
- Questions determine what information is collected
Review your program from the participant’s perspective to ensure clarity.
Tips for a Better Experience
- Keep the registration flow simple
- Only include necessary steps
- Use clear activity names and descriptions
- Test the experience before inviting participants
