Push Notifications

Push notifications alert Mobile App participants to new activity in Eventene — new messages, Activity reminders, and other timely events. Push notifications are part of the Eventene Mobile App; emails are a separate communication channel.

What can trigger a push notification

Trigger Recipient
New post in the Event Feed Everyone in the Event
New post in an Activity Room Participants of that Activity
New 1:1 Direct Message The recipient of the chat
Upcoming Activity reminder Participants Attending that Activity (where configured)

Push notifications are not triggered by emails, attendance changes, payment status changes, Track updates, or other organizer actions outside the Messaging Center.

What needs to be on for notifications to work

Push notifications require three things, all at once:

  1. The Eventene Mobile App is installed on the participant's device
  2. The device's OS-level notification permission for Eventene is granted
  3. The participant's in-app notification setting is turned on

If any of the three is off, the participant will not receive notifications. They can still see messages and Feed content by opening the app directly.

Common participant troubleshooting

When a participant reports missing notifications:

  • Confirm they have logged into the Mobile App recently — not just installed it
  • Check the device's notification permissions for Eventene (in the device's OS settings)
  • Verify they have selected the correct Persona if more than one is on the account
  • Confirm the Event has the Messaging Center turned on
  • Confirm the Activity Room they expect notifications from has Allow Chat Messaging turned on

If everything above looks correct and notifications are still missing, ask them to log out and back into the Mobile App to refresh the device's push token.

Notifications for organizers

Organizers with the Mobile App installed and the Event selected receive the same notifications as participants. Many organizers also enable notifications on at least one staff device for day-of monitoring.

What does not generate push notifications

  • Send emails (these go via email, not push)
  • System emails (registration confirmations, payment receipts)
  • Attendance changes, check-in events, Track or Orders updates
  • Setting changes in the Web App

Push notifications are scoped to the Messaging Center and Activity reminders only.

Common questions

Why am I not getting push notifications? Notifications need three things on at once: the Mobile App installed and logged into, OS-level notification permission for Eventene granted, and Eventene's in-app notification setting on. If all three look correct, log out and back in to refresh the device's notification token.

Can I turn notifications off? Yes. Notifications can be turned off in the device's OS settings (which affects all push from Eventene) or by turning off the in-app notification setting in the Mobile App. Messages and Feed posts are still visible by opening the app — only the proactive alerts stop.

Do emails generate push notifications? No. Emails arrive in the participant's email inbox. Any notification about new email is generated by the device's email app, not by Eventene.
