Version 3 Evolution
Version 3 (February 2020 – October 2023) was Eventene's operational-maturation era. The version opened with Public Events and Open Registration — a deliberate expansion of the platform's audience beyond invite-only events. It transformed during COVID into a virtual-event-capable platform, then matured into a true runtime operational system through Mobile App redesigns, QR codes, multi-event Credits, expanded user roles, and dormant infrastructure (Tags v1) that would only complete much later.
The v3 era is also when several long-running themes became architecturally visible: persistent participant identity (Eventene ID), multi-language support, recurring program coordination, and the operational sophistication that v4 would later build on.
Major themes
- Public Events with Open Registration opened Eventene to a broader audience (v3.0)
- Virtual events arrived as a direct COVID response (v3.1)
- Mobile App redesign for v3 made the app a true runtime operational surface (v3.3)
- QR codes entered the platform vocabulary (v3.15)
- Credits and Packages introduced multi-Event participant continuity at the payments level (v3.8)
- Multi-role coordination expanded with Associate and Event Staff user types (v3.9.7)
- Tags v1 shipped as dormant infrastructure (v3.5.4) — completed years later in v4.8

A note on Tags v1
The first Tags implementation shipped in v3.5.4 (November 2020) as the ability to apply color-coded tags to people in a Main Group. However, the operational integrations — using tags in Subgroup rules, filtering by tags in Track, customizing column sets with tags — were never delivered in v3. Tags would remain dormant infrastructure for the next 5.5 years until Tags v2 completed the system in v4.8.
If you encounter older documentation referring to Tags from this era, treat it as the labeling primitive only. The Tags experience today (post-v4.8) is significantly more capable.
