Stay Connected
Eventene keeps you informed in three ways:
- Email — works for everyone, no app required
- In-app messages in the Mobile App (if the organizer has enabled messaging for your Event)
- Push notifications from the Mobile App (if you have it installed and notifications turned on)
Most messages include a link or button that opens your personalized view directly, so you do not need to log in manually each time.
You may receive these emails from your organizer or from Eventene:
- Invitation emails — give you a link to start registration
- Reminder emails — prompt you to finish if you started but did not complete
- Confirmation emails — confirm your registration, attendance, or payment
- Update emails — share changes to schedules, activities, or other information
- Assignment emails — show your placement (table, room, role) when assignments are used
- Payment receipts — when you make a purchase
The button in any email opens your personalized view in your browser or in the Mobile App, depending on which is installed.
Messages in the Mobile App
If your Event has the Messaging Center turned on, the Mobile App shows a Messages tab at the bottom of the screen for that Event. Inside it you will find:
Event Feed
A shared feed for everyone in the Event. The organizer posts announcements, schedule changes, photos, and other updates here. You can post and reply too. Messages pinned by the organizer stay at the top so you can find them again.
Rooms
Chat channels for specific Activities you are taking part in. You only see Rooms for Activities you belong to. Use these for workshop-specific questions or smaller-group conversation.
Direct Messages
Private 1:1 chats between you and another participant. To start a chat:
- Long-press a name in the Feed or a Room and select Chat, or
- Open a person's profile from the Attendees tab and tap Chat >
You can only start a Direct Message with someone whose Profile Visibility is on. Likewise, only people whose profile you can see will be able to start a chat with you. Profile Visibility is a setting in your Mobile App Account Settings — turning it off applies to your whole account.
Push notifications
The Mobile App can notify you immediately when:
- A new message is posted to the Event Feed
- A new message is posted to one of your Rooms
- You receive a new Direct Message
- An Activity you are Attending is starting soon (when reminders are configured)
For push notifications to reach you, all three of these must be true:
- You have the Eventene Mobile App installed
- You granted notification permission to Eventene in your device's settings
- Eventene's in-app notification setting is turned on
If any one of these is off, you can still see all messages by opening the app — you just will not get a buzz on your device.
Troubleshooting
I'm not getting emails
- Check your spam or promotions folder
- Confirm with the organizer that they have the right email address for you
- Make sure you have not unsubscribed from Eventene messages
- If multiple people share your email (Personas), make sure you are looking at the right one
I'm not getting push notifications
- Make sure you have logged into the Mobile App, not just installed it
- In your device's settings, confirm that Eventene has permission to send notifications
- Confirm the Event you expect notifications from has the Messaging Center enabled
- If you are switching between Personas, notifications follow whichever Persona is active
- Try logging out and back into the Mobile App to refresh your notification token
I can't find the Messages tab
- The Messages tab only appears for Events where the organizer has enabled the Messaging Center
- The Messages tab is part of the Mobile App, not the browser-based Webform
- Make sure you have the right Event selected in the Mobile App
Someone can't message me — or I can't message them
- One or both of you may have Profile Visibility turned off
- Open your Mobile App Account Settings to check your Profile Visibility setting
- The other person must also be in the same Event and have Profile Visibility on
Privacy
- Your account email is your sign-in identifier; the organizer can see it
- Your Profile Visibility is an account-level setting in the Mobile App's Account Settings — it controls whether other participants can see your profile and start Direct Messages with you. It applies to all Personas on your account and persists across Events.
- Organizers and Event Staff can always see you regardless of Profile Visibility — the toggle only affects peer visibility
- Direct Messages are intended for private 1:1 communication between you and the other person
- The organizer can see messages posted on the Event Feed and in Activity Rooms
