Moderation & Pinning

Eventene gives organizers a small set of tools to shape what participants see in the Messaging Center. The two main tools are pinning messages on the Event Feed and deleting inappropriate content.

Who can do what

Action Organizer Participant
Post in Event Feed
Post in Activity Rooms ✓ (any Room) ✓ (their Rooms)
Send Direct Messages
Pin or unpin a Feed message
Delete a message ✓ (own + others) ✓ (own only)

Direct Messages are intended for private 1:1 communication between participants. Pinning and Feed moderation actions do not apply to Direct Messages.

Pinning

Pinning is your most important shape-the-Feed tool. A pinned message stays at the top of the Event Feed and signals: everyone in this Event should see this.

  • Long-press a message in the Feed and select Pin
  • Only organizers can pin or unpin
  • The pinned message remains at the top regardless of how much else has been posted

Pin announcements that change participants' plans — schedule shifts, room changes, urgent notices. Avoid pinning routine posts; over-pinning trains participants to ignore the pin.

Deleting a message

To remove a message:

  • Long-press the message
  • Select Delete

Organizers can delete any message in the Feed or any Activity Room. Participants can delete only their own messages. Deleted messages cannot be restored.

Setting expectations early

A first post to the Event Feed that lays out norms can prevent moderation issues later:

  • "Use the Feed for event-wide updates. Use Activity Rooms for workshop-specific discussion. For private questions, message us directly."
  • "Please keep photos respectful — they may be visible to everyone in this Event."

Turning off a surface

If a Feed or Room is being misused and moderating isn't enough, you can turn the surface off:

  • For one Activity Room — turn off Allow Chat Messaging on that Activity
  • For the whole Messaging Center — turn off Allow Event Feed and Chat Messaging at the Event level

Existing messages remain visible to organizers; participants stop seeing the affected surfaces.
