Version 4 Evolution

Version 4 (December 2023 – present) is Eventene's current era. Where earlier versions focused on building and stabilizing the core architecture, v4 layered new strategic pillars onto that foundation: real-time messaging, sponsor lead generation, participant gamification, and operational coordination through unified scanning.

The v4 Mobile App redesign at the start of the era reaffirmed Eventene's commitment to the Mobile App as the platform's runtime surface. The releases that followed treated the Mobile App as the operational nerve center — adding messaging, badges, lead capture, and point-earning workflows that would have been awkward or impossible without a mature mobile foundation.

A defining v4 milestone was the Tags v2 release (4.8, April 2026), which completed a five-and-a-half-year dormant-infrastructure thread by finally integrating Tags into Subgroup rules, Track filters, and column sets. That release exemplifies a recurring v4 pattern — finishing work that had been started, not just adding new things.

Major themes

  • Native engagement layer — Messaging Center, Lead Generation, and Points became three distinct platform pillars
  • Identity surfaced — the Digital Badge, magic-link authentication, additional OAuth providers, and email-privacy hardening made the participant's identity a first-class, visible artifact
  • Operational unification — the Floating Action Button consolidated scattered scanning entry points; activity-card sign-up began softening the rigid step-based registration model
  • Segmentation completion — Tags v2 finished what v3.5.4 started

Releases

This list shows minor releases only. Patch releases (e.g., 4.3.2, 4.3.6) are summarized into their parent release where useful. The full raw archive is preserved internally.

4.9 — Confirmation email reliability + manual resend

May 2026. A focused set of improvements around attendance confirmation emails. Automatic delivery is more reliable, the event-level confirmation toggle no longer locks out attendees who registered while it was off, and free-Program confirmations no longer show the misleading "No payment required" header line. A new organizer-facing Resend Confirmation action — available per-attendee from the side panel's "..." menu and as a bulk action from the Track action bar — lets organizers send a fresh confirmation reflecting an attendee's current registration state, even when automatic confirmations are off. The resend flow previews who is eligible vs skipped before sending and explains every skip in plain language.

Why this mattered: Attendees were the most exposed point in the registration pipeline — when a confirmation went missing, the organizer had no recovery tool. The combination of reliability improvements and a deliberate manual override turned confirmations into a recoverable, auditable surface. See Automatic Confirmation Emails and Resending Confirmation Emails.

4.8 — Tags v2

April 2026. Tags became a fully operational segmentation system — usable in Subgroup rules, Track filters, and column sets. The 5.5-year-old Tags v1 schema was finally connected to the workflows it was always meant to power. System email templates were redesigned, and the Web App's Calendar view was modernized with auto-scaling time ranges and side-panel editing.

Why this mattered: Tags v2 closed one of Eventene's longest dormant-infrastructure threads. See What are Tags?.

4.7 — UI polish

February 2026. Mobile App UI consistency improvements. The Register tab in the bottom navigation was renamed to Activities; the Details button became an Info icon. Small wording shifts that signal a softening of the rigid step-based registration mindset.

4.6 — Floating Action Button & activity-card sign-up

December 2025. The FAB on the Mobile App's main details page unified four scanning workflows (check-in, lead capture, Points scanning, badge display) into a single context-aware menu. Activity-card sign-up arrived — participants could sign up for optional Activities and answer related questions directly on the Activity card, dissolving the Step 1 / Step 2 boundary.

Why this mattered: Operational coordination work that had been split across scattered entry points became one surface. See QR Codes & Scanning in Eventene.

4.5 — Points

September–November 2025. The Points feature introduced configurable point-earning actions (logging in, uploading a profile photo, posting in chat, scanning custom QR codes, checking in attendees). Organizers could rename "Points" per Event. The Digital Badge showed the participant's current total. Orders CSV export was redesigned with a per-product-per-order pivot-friendly schema; the rich-text editor gained Markdown mode, Print to PDF, and broader image and Office-file support.

Why this mattered: Points became Eventene's gamification pillar — a structured way to surface engagement and drive Mobile App adoption. See Points & Engagement.

4.4 — Lead Generation

January–August 2025. Lead Generation introduced a complete sponsor lead-capture workflow: lead capture forms attached to Activities, Collectors (a new system role distinct from Organizer or Event Staff), online and offline scanning, lead survey responses, and lead-data export. Threaded messaging arrived in Activity Rooms and Direct Messages. Multi-select recipients and persistent drafts came to the Send composer.

Why this mattered: Lead Generation was Eventene's first system with a third-party role. Until v4.4, the model had been Organizer + Participant. With Collectors, the platform formally supported sponsor staff with scoped capabilities. See Lead Generation.

4.3 — New Mobile App home page; check-in filters

July 2024. The Mobile App's vertical section menu replaced the older horizontally scrolling tab strip — a discoverability improvement for events with many information tabs. Check-in filters arrived on the Attendees tab with three-state behavior (off / checked-in only / not-yet-checked-in). Subsequent patches added profile usability improvements, the new Completed Events page, Microsoft OAuth as a fourth identity provider, and the major fix that hides account-email addresses from peer participants by default.

April 2024. The Mobile App sign-in flow was rewritten to route by email rather than ask the user to choose Log In or Sign Up. Magic link authentication arrived — Eventene could now email a one-time sign-in link with embedded event-launch links.

4.1 — Messaging Center

January 2024. The Messaging Center introduced the Event Feed (event-wide chat), Activity Rooms (per-Activity channels), and 1:1 Direct Messages. Threaded conversations, pinned messages, and image and video uploads were in scope from day one. A subsequent patch (4.1.7, March 2024) added per-Event and per-Activity messaging toggles plus the 15-Room cap and Pro/Premier subscription gating.

Why this mattered: Messaging became Eventene's first native engagement surface. The platform had previously relied on email plus optional 3rd-party embeds. See Messaging & Communications.

4.0 — Major Mobile App update

December 2023. The Mobile App was redesigned with a new header, Digital Badge as a first-class participant artifact, improved QR scanning, and timezone display options (event-local vs device-local). Event-info pages moved from a hidden ... menu to a horizontal scrollable tab strip above the agenda.

Why this mattered: v4.0 established the Digital Badge as the participant's identity artifact in the Mobile App. Every subsequent v4 engagement feature builds on it. See Digital Badges.
