What is a Persona?

A Persona is one of multiple people that can share a single Eventene account. The most common example is a parent and one or more children who share an email address — each person is a distinct Persona on the same account.

Personas let one account holder register and respond on behalf of several people, without needing separate logins.

When Personas exist

You will encounter Personas when:

  • A family registers together using a parent's email
  • A staff member registers themselves and a partner or child
  • A guest is added during registration (How Registration Works)
  • An organizer imports multiple people who share an email address

In all these cases, each person is a distinct Persona on the shared account. Each Persona has their own:

  • First and Last Name
  • Profile photo (in the Mobile App)
  • Registration responses
  • Attendance status per Activity
  • Payment history
  • Tags

The person whose name is on the account is the Primary Persona. Others are sometimes called Shared Personas or simply Personas.

Note: a few settings are per-account rather than per-Persona — most notably Profile Visibility, which is set in the Mobile App's account settings and applies to all Personas on the account.

Switching between Personas

In Webforms and the Mobile App, the logged-in user can switch between Personas by clicking the circled initials in the upper-right corner.

  • The Primary Persona appears at the top
  • Other Personas appear in a menu underneath
  • Switching Personas changes which person the current actions apply to

Why Personas exist

In many real-world settings, one person registers on behalf of others:

  • A parent registering children for a class
  • A team lead signing up team members for a conference
  • A friend booking event tickets for the group

Rather than requiring separate accounts for everyone, Eventene supports multiple people under one account through Personas. This keeps registration simple while letting each Persona accumulate their own data.

Where Personas appear

Personas show up across the platform:

  • Webforms: switching Personas to register each person separately
  • Mobile App: each Persona has their own profile photo and registration view
  • Orders: the Persona column on the Orders CSV identifies which Persona purchased what
  • Track: each Persona appears as a separate row in reports

A note on terminology

The Persona model has existed in Eventene since July 2018, when the multi-persona response feature first introduced the term. "Shared Persona" was canonicalized in mid-2019. The behavior has been continuous.
